Miami Nightlife, Eating and Drinking

Miami is one of the best cities in the world for staying out all night – whether you are interested in drinking, dancing, going to a gig or visiting a comedy club, you'll find something to do every night. However it’s the club scene that Miami excels at, and the most fashionable nightclubs are generally found in trendy South Beach.
Miami Nightclubs
Nikki Beach on Ocean Drive is a chic open-air club situated on the beach and under the palm trees, and is particularly popular with the beautiful people at weekends. Mynt is another exclusive celebrity hangout with a small but jumping dancefloor, cool music and a long bar serving expensive drinks. The legendary Cameo nightclub has DJs from all over the world and hosts live concerts, while Mansion is a multi-level club favoured by celebrities that is located in a renovated art deco theatre – it has a range of dance floors, bars and VIP areas and also occasionally hosts concerts.
Miami Bars
Miami has a massive range of bars and you will never be far away from one, whether you are looking for a celebrity haunt, a jazz or piano bar, a local Latin-style place, a sports bar, or just a cool place to hang out on the beach and watch the world go by. While you are there try out one of Miami’s specialities – a Cuba Libre or Mojito.
Restaurants in Miami and New World Cuisine
Miami has over 6,000 restaurants to choose from, and the city’s dining scene broadly reflects its cultural diversity and Latin influence. Miami is particularly known for its ‘New World’, ‘Nuevo Latino’ or ‘Florribean’ cuisine – a fusion of Latin and Caribbean flavours – and seafood, but it also caters for other tastes with Chinese, Japanese, Middle Eastern and European restaurants, as well as many cafés and steakhouses.
For authentic Cuban cuisine try La Carreta, which is open 24 hours a day to cater for Miami’s late-night dining, or Ola inside the Sanctuary Hotel, a specialist Nuevo Latino restaurant mixing Spanish and Latin American culinary traditions. Ortanique features New World cuisine with food that mixes Caribbean and French styles. A perfect place to try New World cuisine is the ultra-smart Chef Allen’s restaurant, as chef Allen Susser was one of the originators of the culinary style. Baleen at Grove Isle Hotel & Spa offers an eccentric menu with fresh ingredients, and consistently draws praise from food critics.
Miami's Cafe Culture
If you’re sampling Miami’s vibrant nightlife you may want a caffeine kick to keep you going – and Miami’s café culture rivals anywhere else in the USA. The most famous coffee shop in the area is Miami Beach’s News Café, a perfect place to sit outside and sip a cup of coffee whilst indulging in a spot of people-watching. Versailles is the place to get a cup of café cubano, a popular Cuban espresso with plenty of sugar. Café Demetrio is a charming coffee shop that has an evening happy hour and also hosts occasional live music, while Joffrey’s Coffee and Restaurant is the perfect place for peace and quiet.
Miami Casinos
And if the day’s shopping hasn’t emptied your purse or wallet, Miami has a couple of casinos where you can try your luck. The Miccosukee Resort and Casino is a no-frills Indian casino located on the edge of the Everglades, and has slot machines, poker tables and high stakes bingo. Further afield the Seminole Casino offers a more modern, vibrant feel.
